Sage Stossel is an editor and a cartoonist who has regularly cartooned for The Atlantic.com, The Boston Globe and the Provincetown Banner. She is the recipient of the award for Best Editorial Cartoon by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, and a New England Press Association Award. She was also the 2023 finalist for the Rex Babin Award for excellence in local cartooning. Her cartoons have been featured by the New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, CNN Headline News, and Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year. Her books include On the Loose in Boston, On the Loose in Washington, DC., On the Loose in Philadelphia, On the Loose in New York City, the graphic novel Starling, and T-Ride, a board book about riding the Boston subway.

The AAEC John Locher Memorial Fellowship is awarded each year to one early-career cartoonist whose work demonstrates clear opinions and strong artistry on political and social topics. Deadline to be considered is the end of March.
The Locher Fellow will receive a one-year Regular membership in the AAEC, be a guest of the CXC Festival — held every fall in Columbus, Ohio — and have the opportunity to meet with editorial cartoonists during the year of the Fellowship for portfolio reviews and career advice.
