Profile

Bio

Wanda Nicholson has the honor of being the longest serving General Manager in the 65+ years of the association. (Actually we’re not sure that’s an honor, but it was never dull.) Originally at Olson Management in Raleigh, NC, Wanda broke away in the early ’00’s to start her own business and, as she said when she walked out the door, “And I’m taking the cartoonists with me!”

For Wanda knew what the cartoonists didn’t at the time: that in the big-money world of convention planning, they were always going to be the oddball misfits who were more trouble than they were worth, and would never get the level of personal care from profit-driven management firms. She understood cartoonists and, more importantly, was very good at herding cats.

A decade after retiring, she returned in 2016 to run the AAEC for several more years, mostly, or so everyone thought, just so she could hang out with cartoonists again.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the AAEC is to champion and defend editorial cartooning and free speech as essential to liberty in the United States and throughout the world.

The AAEC aims to be an international leader in support of the human, civil, and artistic rights of editorial cartoonists around the world, and to stand with other international groups in support of the profession.
