Profile

Bio

David Cohen was born in New York City, but has lived most of his life in the South and the last 50 years or so in Asheville, North Carolina— a liberal little oasis in the buckle of the Bible Belt.

His cartoons, for the last 17 years, have appeared in the Asheville Citizen-Times, a Gannett owned daily.

In addition to cartooning, David is also a drummer/percussionist, and plays with a number of groups locally and regionally, has worked with Grammy winners and recorded in Nashville.

David’s work has been featured on CD covers, in college textbooks, syndicated to Fortune 500 companies, and has made an appearance on his mother’s refrigerator.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the AAEC is to champion and defend editorial cartooning and free speech as essential to liberty in the United States and throughout the world.

The AAEC aims to be an international leader in support of the human, civil, and artistic rights of editorial cartoonists around the world, and to stand with other international groups in support of the profession.
