Top Cartoonists Condemn Threats

Nineteen Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonists have taken a public stand and signed a petition condemning threats against animators Matt Stone and Trey Parker after their 200th episode of South Park aired depicting the Prophet Mohammad in a bear suit.

“We, the undersigned, condemn the recent threats against the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, by the extremist organization, Muslim Revolution. Freedom of express is a universal right and we reject any group that seeks to silence people by violence or intimidation. In the United States we have a proud tradition of political satire and believe in the right to speak or draw freely without censorship.”

Signators included Ann Telnaes, Joel Pett, Pat Oliphant, Garry Trudeau, Signe Wilkinson, Mike Peters, Tony Auth, Nick Anderson, Clay Bennett, Mark Fiore, Michael Ramirez, Jim Morin, Steve Breen, Jack Higgins, Ben Sargent, Paul Szep, Steve Benson, Matt Davies and David Horsey.
