The NCS Joins the AAEC in Calling Out the Pulitzer Prizes

The National Cartoonist Society has weighed in on the recent controversy over the Pulitzer Prizes with an open letter to the Pulitzer Board in solidarity with editorial cartoonists nationwide:

“Combining editorial cartooning and illustrated reportage together into one category does a disservice to both genres. To us, the situation is like having a sprinter and a long-distance runner competing for a single gold medal because they’re both track and field athletes.”

This is the fourth major request for the Pulitzer Board to rescind their earlier decision to drop the Editorial Cartooning category, and follows protest letters from 35 winners and finalists of the award, and CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
