The Daily Cartoonist is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month. First launched on October 5, 2005, The Daily Cartoonist has covered the ever-changing cartooning landscape, documenting the rise of digital comics platforms, the decline of newspapers, the challenges facing editorial cartooning, and free speech issues.
Founded by Alan Gardner, The Daily Cartoonist also features industry development highlights from D.D. Degg, while Mike Peterson contributes the Comic Strip of the Day column, often showcasing the work of AAEC members.
The Daily Cartoonist contributors have been previously recognized by the AAEC, which awarded The Daily Cartoonist with its Ink Bottle Award.
“What began as an experiment in the early days of blogging has grown into a daily must-read for the cartooning industry,” said Gardner. “I’m amazed and grateful that it’s still going strong 20 years later. It’s been incredibly rewarding to connect with the cartooning community, and I’m excited for the opportunities ahead to expand TDC’s presence and content even further.”
