[Hi, all. While I realize the AAEC feed has become All Rob, All the Time, I'm not going to apologize: his firing by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette appears to be a tipping point, and the events of the past few weeks have been a clarion call to cartoonists and news media everywhere. Support of Rob Rogers and free speech has poured in from across the country, from left and the right, from the biggest news outlets and celebrities to Republicans who have been his targets in the past. As long as people are writing about it, I'll keep posting the links. —JP]
The New York Times gave Rob a guest slot on the opinion page on Friday: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/15/opinion/cartoonist-rob-rogers-trump-fired.html
Meanwhile, Rob's former publisher finally broke his silence and fired back with, according to Politico, some questionable excuses: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/16/pittsburgh-cartoonist-firing-publisher-gazette-650389
Pittsburgh's other paper, the Tribune-Review, covered the increasingly public fight: https://triblive.com/local/allegheny/13761182-74/after-spiking-anti-trump-cartoons-post-gazette-fires-cartoonist-rob-rogers
Cartoonists themselves took to the metaphorical barricades:
And of course, the irrepressible Michael Peterson over at Comic Strip of the Day.
In addition to Barbara Streisand and Alec Baldwin, George Takei and Robert Reich weighed in on the firing to their millions of followers.
Millions, people. Pretty sure that's more than the current circulation of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
