Remembering Tom Spurgeon

Friends of Tom Spurgeon collect their memories of the influential comics reporter and critic, who died suddenly this month at age 50: https://www.tcj.com/memories-of-tom-spurgeon/.

Spurgeon was a unique and ubiquitous presence in the industry, and his website The Comics Reporter was required daily reading. His friend Douglas Wolk recently posted the last entry on the site: Tom’s obituary: https://www.comicsreporter.com/index.php/tom_spurgeon_1968_2019/

For the last five years Tom was the organizing force behind CXC in Columbus, relocating across the country to Ohio to run the annual festival celebrating all things cartooning. A public memorial service will be held this Dec. 14  at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum at The Ohio State University. https://cartoons.osu.edu/events/memorial-for-tom-spurgeon/
