Pedro X. Molina wins National Cartooning Society Silver Reuben Award for Editorial Cartooning

Pedro X. Molina was awarded the Silver Reuben Divisional Award for Editorial Cartooning Friday, Aug. 7, 2026 at the 80th Annual Reuben Award as part of the National Cartoonist Society’s conference in Columbus, Ohio.

Molina, who was forced to flee his native Nicaragua in 2018 due to a crackdown on journalists, has won numerous awards for his cartoons. He was named a finalist earlier this year for the Herblock Prize. His work is published in Spanish at Confidencial.digital, and in English on Counterpoint. Molina is syndicated through the Tribune Content Agency.

LOCHER FELLOWSHIP

The AAEC John Locher Memorial Fellowship is awarded each year to one early-career cartoonist whose work demonstrates clear opinions and strong artistry on political and social topics. Deadline to be considered is the end of March.

The Locher Fellow will receive a one-year Regular membership in the AAEC, be a guest of the CXC Festival — held every fall in Columbus, Ohio — and have the opportunity to meet with editorial cartoonists during the year of the Fellowship for portfolio reviews and career advice.
