Annual Convention

Annual Convention October 5-8

The AAEC and Association of Canadian Cartoonists will be joining with the Cartoon Art Museum in San Franscisco for a 3-day celebration of editorial art and political cartoonists, October 5-8, 2023.

Online registration is now open!

Huh. Someone’s actually looking to hire a cartoonist.

Fourth Estate, a startup dedicated to "fostering, supporting and incubating a sustainable and vibrant free press" is looking to add a freelance cartoonist to their team."What I am looking for are some high quality editorial cartoons focused on the issues that are facing journalism and the free press. Ideally at least one cartoon weekly, preferably two," wrote CEO Jeff Brown.

The site itself appears to be as much a networking and hosting platform as industry news publisher. Access to members-only elements, including resume databases, chatrooms and hosting services run $95 a year.

No word on compensation, though they did ask what the current standard is for freelance cartoons. If interested, submit samples and your rate by May 31.
