Editorial Cartooning in Education
Fiore, whose cartoons about California politics appear regularly on the public broadcasting website, teamed up with the San Francisco-based station earlier this year as part of their on-going educational program “Youth Media Challenge.”
The program is for students grade 6-12 to encourage “using creativity and humor to start conversations and help students appreciate a variety of viewpoints through…cartooning,” according to KQED.
Students can also submit cartoons they’ve drawn to the Media Challenge to be published in an online showcase throughout the school year, and Mark Fiore will select and feature 5 cartoons each semester on the PBS site.
