Greenberg takes 1st place in Davenport contest

AAEC member Steve Greenberg won First Place in the “Homer Davenport Cartoon Contest,” based in Silverton, Oregon. The local contest celebrates home-town hero Homer Davenport, the late-19th/early 20th century editorial cartoonist famous for his quote “No honest man need fear cartoons.”

The contest is usually part of the town’s annual Davenport Days Festival in August — which was of course cancelled this year due to the coronavirus. The event organizers moved the contest online and carried on with the 37-year-old tradition.

Greenberg also took the opportunity to announce his work is now running on crooksandliars.com, which has become his main outlet since losing his alt-weekly forum last fall.
