Deadline for Locher Award extended to July 15

[Editor’s note: Thanks in part to all the news over the last half of June, we know cartoonists might be, umm, a bit distracted. So the Locher Award is extending the deadline to submit entries to this year’s contest to FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2022.]

The AAEC’s John Locher Memorial Award is now accepting submissions from aspiring editorial cartoonists for 2022.

Single panel, multi-panel, and animated editorial cartoons and comics will be accepted from cartoonists, ages 18-25, whose work demonstrates both clear opinions and strong artistry on political and social topics. Click here for details: https://locheraward.org/

The deadline to enter is Friday, July 15, 2022.

The prestigious award includes a $1,000 cash prize and an all-expense-paid trip to this year’s AAEC Convention. The award will be announced in August and presented in October in Columbus, Ohio, in conjunction with the 2022 CXC Festival.

The Locher Award was founded in 1986 by members of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists who not only wanted to honor the memory of John Locher but also looked to help young cartoonists and stimulate interest in editorial cartooning among college-age students in North America.
