TIGHT DEADLINE: A Call to Cartoonists from Cartoonists Rights

Terry Anderson, the Executive Director of Cartoonists Rights (formerly CRNI), has a request for assistance with their annual fundraiser:

Cartoonists Rights is planning for their year end Pledge Drive now. As in the past, this event will begin in earnest on GIVING TUESDAY (December 3rd) and go on until the Christmas period, with donations accepted right through the end of 2024.

Terry is asking you to consider supporting the fund-raising in one (or more) of three ways:

GIVE ARTWORK – whether an original cartoon, a signed or otherwise personalized print, or a sketch-on-request, donors will be incentivized to give if they can receive some of your wonderful artwork in return. If you’re interested, please contact Terry THIS WEEK at director@cartoonistsrights.org.

LEND YOUR VOICE (OR PEN) – be it a video greeting from your studio or a quick drawing on the topic of free expression (and seasonal generosity) their communications during the campaign will be greatly enhanced by your talent and humor in the form of any rallying cry you can offer.

AMPLIFY THEIR MESSAGE – even if you can’t contribute personally, you can help by forwarding December’s social media posts to your own audience, mention us on your blogs, Substacks, podcasts, or wherever else your audience hears from you.

Here’s Terry’s letter with all the details:

The Locher Fellow will receive a one-year Regular membership in the AAEC, be a guest of the CXC Festival — held every fall in Columbus, Ohio —  and have the opportunity to meet with editorial cartoonists during the year of the Fellowship for portfolio reviews and career advice.
