Keeping R.C. Harvey’s Legacy Alive

Cartoonist and comics historian R.C. Harvey was a prolific writer, and left behind a treasure trove of material. The following was posted by Bob’s friend Jeremy Lambros over on facebook, and we’re passing along his requests:

“We have lost one of the most unique and lively voices in comics and cartooning. R.C. Harvey passed away on July 7th, 2022 due to complications from a fall. This sad news has left us shaken and wondering what to do about the future of his website. After communicating with Bob’s family, we have decided, with their approval, to keep things running and open to the public. The Official Website of R.C. Harvey and its 23 years of content will remain online and open access to serve as a living archive and a tribute to his life and work. We will also include unpublished work as we discover it and promote his books that are still to be published. https://www.rcharvey.com/main.html

“Also, we would ask that you send us any photos, images of artwork or just written memories you have of Harv to webmaster@rcharvey.com. We will collect all of your contributions in a memorial section on the website. It is our hope that future fans of comics and cartoons will discover the work of R.C. Harvey and be as inspired, informed and entertained by it as we are.

“Because there will be no further updates by Harv himself, we will no longer be charging a subscription. But before you cancel your subscription, please consider turning it into a rolling donation to help pay us for the server and work to keep the website going. We will continue to collect links and unpublished writings by R.C. Harvey to make this archive as complete as possible and open to all visitors.

“To all the $ubscriber/Associate that supported us all these years, thank you so very much. Without you, we could never have done it for so long.

“If you prefer to not donate your payment, you can find the links and instructions for canceling here:

“Even after canceling, you can also donate a one-time gift to help us build the new searchable archive and keep it online here: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=AAY8CMXVBMWZQ&fbclid=IwAR1WcSLf95u8Z_4FWMLj6gbOMVQTBhI4McYX-FeBgz4RRb2TrCZUiUIUKC8

“Please come visit us in the future and consider supporting us once we have fully transitioned to a searchable printer-friendly archive. We could always use your help.”
