New retrospective out from Bill Sanders
“It has been almost five years since I started gathering details, files and assorted junk to chronicle, for my daughters, some experiences that I have been fortunate to have had,” said Sanders in a Facebook announcement. “For the last three years have written what is hopefully a coherent version of certain events that span from John Kennedy, to the election of Donald Trump.”
The Sanders memoir is both personal and political. He reveals his small-town Southern roots, his athletic exploits and military service, his courtship and enduring marriage, and his life-long passion for music. These threads are woven into his main narrative, explaining how a cartoonist works and why.
Against the Grain: Bombthrowing in the Fine American Tradition of Political Cartooning will publish as a Hardcover edition on May 1, 2018, with a forward from syndicated cartoonist and author Jules Feiffer.

"Drawing on Anger: Portraits of U.S. Hypocrisy" is slated for publication this September. A book of Eric García’s most unabashed political cartoons about U.S. history and politics from 2004 to the present, the collection focuses on the larger themes of anti-immigration laws, global imperialism, veterans affairs, and the conquest of the Americas.
From the press release: "For over a decade García has been serving up inked visuals with the sharpest of political critiques through a Chicano lens. Born and raised in Albuquerque’s South Valley, Eric J. García earned his BFA from the University of New Mexico and received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A versatile artist working in an assortment of media, from hand-printed posters to nationally published political cartoons to large-scale public murals, all of his work has a common goal of educating and challenging."
"Drawing on Anger" will be available in September from Mad Creek Books' Latinographix imprint. Order at ohiostatepress.org
