August News Briefs
° Two more editorial cartoonists have recently launched blogs. J.D. Crowe at http://blog.al.com/jdcrowe/ and Drew Sheneman at http://blog.nj.com/njv_shenemans_sketchpad/ are now posting daily discussions about their cartoons.
° Justin Bilicki has posted "Drawing Dick Cheney" over on YouTube. Bilicki says it is the first in a series of short "video editorial cartoon/comedy shows" he is hoping to produce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FCGQ6Ds12s
° Speaking of YouTube, you can now watch an interview with cartoonist Matt Wuerker on the Riz Khan show. Although the Riz Khan show (along with the rest of Al Jazeera English) hasn't been picked up by any of the cable companies in the United States, it can be seen on YouTube. Wuerker will be appearing regularly on the "Punchlines" portion of the Al Jazeera English news show. (The interview starts about 2 minutes into the segment.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWmvNN1NsNA
° And finally, Mark Fiore, the grandaddy of online political animation, announced he has signed a distribution deal with Universal Press Syndicate. Fiore, who has been self-syndicating his weekly animations to clients such as CBSNews.com and the San Francisco Chronicle's SFGate.com, said in a statement: "I'm excited about working with uclick and Universal Press Syndicate to bring my work to a wider audience."
