Tulsa World Still Wants A Cartoonist on Staff
With the recent untimely death of Doug Marlette, the Tulsa World once again finds themselves without a staff editorial cartoonist. However, this is a paper that believes a local cartoonist is such an integral part of the publication, it has decided to go ahead and begin the search for a replacement for Marlette. Here is their announcement:
"The Tulsa World finds itself in a most difficult position. While mourning the death of our editorial cartoonist Doug Marlette, we are faced with finding his replacement. No easy task. We are looking for a gifted cartoonist and caricaturist, one with a passion for the profession. Our cartoonist must be up to the minute on news developments locally and nationally and produce on deadline at least five humorous cartoons a week. We will require our new cartoonist to live in the Tulsa area. We promise great working conditions, a lot of fresh ideas, and colleagues who love to laugh and enjoy their work.
"The Tulsa World is one of an elite few of daily newspapers that remain family owned. If you wish to be considered for this opportunity or would like to discuss the details of the job, please feel free to contact Laura McIntosh in Human Resources at laura.mcintosh@tulsaworld.com OR please send resume, samples of work and salary requirements to: Human Resources, Tulsa World 315 S. Boulder Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74103, Fax: (918) 584-8966."
