Remembering Doug Marlette

On July 10, cartoonist and writer Doug Marlette was killed in a car accident in northern Mississippi. He was 57. Although Doug hadn't been a member of the AAEC since 1982, he remained friends with cartoonists both in and out of the Association, especially Mike Peters and Tony Auth.

Both Peters and Auth were in Hillsborough, N.C., over the weekend for services for Marlette, along with cartoonists Bill Schorr, Cullum Rogers, J.P. Trostle and Dwane Powell. Numerous others posted remembrances, cartoons and condolences online.
