Kory Merritt Named 2007 Locher Award Winner
Kory Merritt has been selected as this year's winner of the AAEC/John Locher Memoial Award contest.
Merritt is a student at State University of New York College at Brockport where his editorial cartoons appear in the student newspaper, The Stylus. "The subject matter of Merritt?s four winning cartoons was timely and varied," wrote Mary Locher, "[and ranged from commentary on Internet Stalkers to Young Voters? Apathy."
Merritt is 21 years old and lives in Spencerport, New York. His cartoons have appeared in SUNY Brockport?s student newspaper, The Stylus, since 2005. During summers he works as a counselor at Lockport YMCA Camp Kenan.
First Runner-up for the award was Sam Ayres, of Yale University, and Nathan Rohde, University of Wisconsin, Madison, as Second Runner-up.
