Aljazeera English Looking for Cartoons
The producers of the news program "The Riz Khan Show" on Aljazeera English are looking for editorial cartoons to air, according to AAEC member Drew Rougier-Chapman.
Rougier-Chapman met an executive of the Aljazeera network when they were both at a media convention in 2005, and who later approached Rougier-Chapman about finding cartoonists for the network.
"The producers, not surprisingly, are interested in editorial cartoons concerning national and especially international issues," Rougier-Chapman wrote in a recent e-mail. "A small, but yet to be determined, payment will be made for each cartoon featured. Plus, the producers of the show assure me that you will not be asked to surrender all sorts of rights to your work. "
The Riz Khan Show is a live interview show that reaches over 80 million households worldwide. Guests have included former US President Jimmy Carter, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Bob Geldof, Richard Branson and Ralph Nader, to name just a few. Broadcast live, the show allows viewers from around the world to question world leaders, newsmakers and celebrities directly via phone, email, and fax.
"The show is live from Monday to Thursday at 18:00 GMT. (I believe that's now 2PM EST, thanks to the time change.) The show also replays at 8PM and 2AM EST. In the United States you can watch the show for free online at Relavista.tv. For about $9 a month you can watch the show with better reception at VDC.com."
Rougier-Chapman added, "If you are interested in having your print and/or animated cartoons featured on The Riz Khan Show, please email me a link to your work along with a note expressing your interest in having your work featured on the show. Please do not email your work to the producers of the show.
