Another Gig Gone
J.R. Lane reports that he has lost his freelance gig at the Denton Record-Chronicle. Lane has been doing local and national editorial cartoons for the daily paper since 2001.
The Denton Record-Chronicle is a subsidiary of Belo, and a sister paper to The Dallas Morning News.
The lay-off was due to "budget restraints," wrote Lane in an e-mail. "They are telling me it's possible I could be called back. The managing editor told me it was not her decision and she was sick over it. The opinion page editor didn't like it either."
Lane says he is hoping to do to continue to do national cartoons on a free-lance basis.
