In the Baltimore-DC Area Next Week?
You have a number of big events and shows to choose from, including the Small Press Expo, the International Comics Art Festival, CARTOONS & COCKTAILS, and a reprise of "Mightier Than the Sword: The Satirical Pen of KAL"

SPX -- October 13 & 14, 2006
Bethesda, Md.
A number of AAEC members will be at this year's Small Press Expo (SPX) in Bethesda, Md., on October 13 and 14. Matt Bors, Brian McFadden, August Pollak, Ted Rall, Mikhaela Reid, and Ben Smith will be there, along with cartoonists Jen Sorensen and Masheka Wood. All will have books, art, and merchandise for sale.
The SPX is being held this year at the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel & Conference Center.
In addition, eight of the cartoonists (Ted Rall, Mikhaela Reid, Matt Bors, Jen Sorensen, Masheka Wood, August Pollak, Ben Smith, and Brian McFadden) will be signing books at Politics & Prose in Washington D.C. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, as part of the "Cartoonists with Attitude" tour.

Washington, D.C.
The International Comics Art Festival will be held October 12-14 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Among the highlights of the event will be a talk by former Village Voice/Universal Press Syndicate cartoonist Jules Feiffer, an exhibit of Feiffer's work, an exhibit of editorial cartoons by the late Herblock of The Washington Post and Creators Syndicate. Cartoons & Cocktails -- October 19, 2006

Just a reminder that the annual Cartoons & Cocktails event is fast approaching. As always, the event will be held at the National Press Club and this year's host is Mike Luckovich.

KAL -- through November 7
North Bethesda, Md.
An exhibit of Kevin "KAL" Kallaugher's editorial cartoons has moved to the Strathmore arts center in North Bethesda, Md. "Mightier Than the Sword: The Satirical Pen of KAL" will run at the Strathmore through Nov. 7. A larger version of the show was at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore from June 18 to Sept. 3.
