Reid is Hot — and Engaged
Cartoonist and AAEC member Mikhaela Reid was recently named to "The REAL Hot 100," an online answer (and rebuke) to pop culture lists such as Maxim Magazine's annual "Hot 100."
"The REAL hot 100 shows that young women are 'hot' for reasons beyond their ability to look cute in a magazine," the organizers of this alternative list state on their website.
"The REAL hot 100 is a list featuring young women from around the country who are breaking barriers, fighting stereotypes, and making a difference in their communities or the nation. This project will not only combat the popular notion that all young women have to offer is their ability to appeal to men, but it will also highlight the important -- but often overlooked -- work young women are doing."

In other news, Reid recently announced that she and fellow cartoonist Masheka Wood are engaged to be married in September 2007 in Massachusetts. Cartoonist Ted Rall will be officiating.
[You read that correctly. No, Ted hasn't become "Rev. Rall" ... Mikhaela told The Daily Cartoonist last week that, when she and Masheka were trying to decide who should marry them, they opted to take advantage of a Massachusetts law that allows a close friend or family member to legally perform marriages with a special one-day designation.]
