Festival and Show at the MoCCA
AAEC member Mikhaela Reid is one of over 50 women cartoonists currently being showcased at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York City. "She Draws Comics: 100 Years of America's Women Cartoonists" will be on exhibit at the MoCCA until November 6.
The show was curated by cartoon scholar and artist Trina Robbins and features over 50 women cartoon and comic artists from the last century. With over 50 artists and 100 artworks, it is the largest retrospective of women's work in comic and cartoon art ever mounted. Other artists in the show include Nell Brinkley, Dale Messick (Brenda Starr), Carol Lay, Roz Chast, Alison Bechdel, and many more.
The museum is currently located at 594 Broadway (between Houston and Prince Streets). MoCCA exhibits are generally open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 12:00-5:00 pm. (see below for special times.)
However, if you're in New York this weekend, June 10-11, you can catch the 5th annual MoCCA Art Festival at The Puck Building. Guests will include Gahan Wilson, Gary Groth, Jen Sorensen, Tim Kreider and more. Hours of the festival are 11:00am - 6:00pm both days. Admission is $8 each day / $10 weekend pass (weekend pass only $5 for MoCCA members)
