Crowe Puts Out Book of Katrina Cartoons
J.D. Crowe and The Mobile Register have compiled a booklet of his work from this past hurricane season titled, “2005 Hurricane Season: A graphic documentary featuring the Katrina cartoons.”
All profits from this project will be donated to the Salvation Army Neediest Families Campaign, a fund that partners with the Mobile Register.
Crowe writes on the back cover of the book: “As the editorial cartoonist for the Mobile Register, I have been uniquely situated for some prime hunkering the past two hurricane seasons. I was hunkered like a groundhog for Katrina. And when I came out of my hole I saw anguish, devastation, and at least six more weeks of hurricane cartoons.
“Not a lot of knee-slappers here, especially in the aftermath of Katrina. These images reek of horror, sadness, and anger, but also frustration... I could never seem to express everything I wanted in any one cartoon.”
The book will be soon be available on his website, crowetoons.com, and at the Mobile Register ... in the meantime, for more information contact him at jdcrowe@mobileregister.com.
