Awards for AAEC Members
Kevin "KAL" Kallaugher, cartoonist for the Baltimore Sun and The Economist, has been awarded the 2005 Nast Prize.
Kallaugher reports that the prize is periodically bestowed by the town of Landau, Germany (birthplace of Thomas Nast) to one American and one German cartoonist. A festival will be held in Germany in early December where the awards will be presented. [No word at this time as to who the German recipient is this year.]
Five cartoonists were sited by the Florida Press Club in its Excellence In Journalism Contest. Classes are based on circulation size of the newspaper.
In the Editorial Cartoon category, Chan Lowe, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel took 1st place in Class A.
