Attack of the Political Cartoonists
(2004)

Gus Papoutsis

Gus Papoutsis was born in Toronto in 1971. He began editorial cartooning for the Charlatan, Carleton University's school newspaper in 1992. Subsequently he studied animation at Sheridan College where he was recruited out of school to work as an animator. He worked in animation for 4 years after returning to editorial cartooning. As an editorial cartoonist Gus draws on social commentary over political based content. He uses his pen work and unforgiving opinions to surface important social issues affecting people and animals great and small. His work has appeared in several Canadian national publications, and has also been exhibited internationally through Salon de Presse, in France. While working as an Illustrator and Cartoonist, Gus has served on the executive committee for the Graphic Artist's Guild for 5 years, where he attained the level of Vice President. Gus received his degree from the University of Toronto. He lives in Toronto with his wife and 2 sons, where he also teaches art and remains a freelance Illustrator and Editorial Cartoonist.
