Mike Marland
Mike Marland has been drawing editorial cartoons for the
Concord Monitor since 1987.
A native of New Hampshire he enjoys a front row seat to the circus
known as The First-in-the Nation NH Presidential Primary.
He self-syndicates his Monitor cartoons to seven other NH newspapers.
His cartooning career was launched in 1978 at The Courier ,
a weekly paper in Littleton, NH where he was employed in the composing room.
27 years later he continues to draw a weekly editorial cartoon for them.
Mike has won several regional editorial cartoon awards from his work with both papers.
Mike has been cartooning fulltime since 1988. In addition to his editorial work he also has a weekly rural humor comic strip called R.F.D. It has been syndicated by King Features since 1992 and continues to be a popular feature in the King Features Weekly Service package.
Since 2001 Mike has also served as one of two writers for the long-running King Features comic strip Barney Google & Snuffy Smith.
Mike also does a variety of other freelance cartoon & illustration work when it comes his way.
He's a diehard Boston Red Sox fan.
