Victor Harville
Vic Harville, a veteran political and sports cartoonist, joined Stephens Media Group in June 2000 after 12 years with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. His cartoons have won several awards and honors.
Harville, has won first place for editorial cartooning in three regional competitions over the last three years. A six-time finalist for the Katie Award by the Press Club of Dallas, he took the top prize in 1998 and again in 2002 and 2003. He also took top honors in 1998 and 1999 in the Mid-South competition of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Harville has won the Arkansas Press Association contest five times and the Arkansas Associated Press Managing Editors contest twice. His work as been reprinted in Newsweek, the Washington Post, and USA Today. It has also been featured on NBC's Prime Time Live and ABC's Dateline and Good Morning America-Sunday.
Three books of his cartoons have been published. The first, "That's The Way To Run A War," was a collection of cartoons recounting the Persian Gulf War. The original artwork on the book's cover now hangs in the George Bush Presidential Library on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station.
His second book, "We Knew Bill Clinton," was published in 1993. It featured a collection of Harville's work related to Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign.
A third book, "ROUNDING UP THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS," was release in early 2002.
