Gwendolyn Gettliffe

Gwendolyn Gettliffe is a recent graduate of Duke University with a degree in mechanical engineering, her cartoons having been published in its paper, The Chronicle, since 2008.  Born and raised in Durham, NC, she started her professional journalism career at age 14 as a weekly cartoonist for Durham's Herald-Sun newspapers' Mainly4Kids page and TeenZine supplements.  After graduating from Durham School of the Arts, where she was Editor-in-Chief of its newspaper, The Gallery, Gwendolyn served as the Art Director for Small Town Records, the Duke University record label and recording studio.  In 2009, her self-published graphic novel, Haircut, helped her win a prestigious Benenson Award to fund the creation of her webcomic, November Shift (.com).  Gwen is currently a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology pursuing a graduate degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering and hopes to continue to cast a steely eye on the ebb and flow of the life in the sandcastles around her.
