James Casciari

James Casciari pens his national award winning editorial cartoons for the Vero Beach Press Journal and its various 'sister' properties which make up the Treasure Coast Newspaper group, as well as the Washington DC based Scripps Howard News Service. In addition, he contributes regularly to several national weekly roundups.

Casciari’s work is distributed by the Scripps Howard News Service to almost 400 newspapers/clients worldwide. National clients include The Washington Post, American City Business Journals, USA Today, McGraw-Hill Publishing, Newsweek, and CNN Headline News.

He is a member of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, the National Cartoonist Society, and his work has been awarded placement (tenth year honors) in Pelican Publishing’s BEST EDITORIAL CARTOONS OF THE YEAR series, as well as Pineapple Press’s FLORIDA’S EDITORIAL CARTOONISTS.

His work continues to be recognized for outstanding achievement and was the top winner of the prestigious 2000-2001 Scripps Howard Foundation National Journalism Award for excellence in editorial cartooning. In addition to numerous state awards and prizes, he is a seven-time recipient of the Florida Press Club Association’s celebrated Excellence in Journalism Award for excellence in editorial cartooning. His work has garnered the awards in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2007.

Casciari is a double major graduate from The School of Communication at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida.  He began his career drawing editorial cartoons for the university newspaper, The Hurricane.

When not drawing editorial cartoons or busy with freelance graphic design/Illustration, he enjoys watching college football, fishing, or fiddling with his antique sports car.
