Gary Varvel Gary Varvel is the editorial cartoonist for The Indianapolis Star.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1957, Gary was drawn to cartoons as a child when he saw a copy of MAD magazine. His freshman year at Danville High School in Danville, Indiana, Gary won his first cartoon contest held by the school newspaper. Winning the award landed him a job as the staff cartoonist and he eventually became the sports editor. In 1974, he met Jerry Barnett, the editorial cartoonist for The Indianapolis News who encouraged him to pursue a career in cartooning.

Contributor to Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year. Guitarist/ songwriter in 11-piece rhythm and blues band "Four Fried Chickens and a Coke" named after a scene in the Blues Brothers movie. Signe Wilkinson Born in the depths of the baby boom, Signe Wilkinson graduated from her suburban high school about the same time the SAT scores began their slide.  Barely acquiring a coveted B.A. in English from a Western university of middling academic reputation, Wilkinson found a job in the only profession that would have her--journalism.  She worked as a stringer for the King of Prussia, Daily Post, and the West Chester Daily Local News before joining a mission to bring peace to the island of Cyprus.  Nine months later, war broke out.

Monte Wolverton Son of cartoonist Basil Wolverton, Monte began his career as a graphic designer in the early 1970s. His cartoons and comics were first published in CB Radio magazine, Creative Computing, CAR-toons and Youth Magazine. He worked in advertising and publication design and illustration in L.A., Seattle and Portland. Monte's interests turned to editorial cartooning in the mid 1990s. He is also managing editor of Plain Truth magazine, an occassional contributor to MAD magazine, and a board member of the Rat Terrier Club of America. He resides with his wife Kayte in Westlake Village, California.
